Frequently Asked Questions

What is Speech and Language Therapy?

Speech and Language Therapy is evidence based therapy focusing on improving speech and language skills and supporting communication challenges.

What is the difference between a Speech Assessment and a Language Assessment? Will my child need both?

A Speech Assessment identifies whether your child has difficulty with speech clarity. It gathers a profile of your child's speech sounds and identifies if intervention is required. It does not assess your child's ability to understand or how they use language.

A Language Assessment establishes a baseline of your child's understanding of language (Receptive Language) and how they use language to express themselves (Expressive Language).

A Language Assessment is not carried out as part of a Speech Assessment. However, it may be recommended following the therapist observations during the session. This will be discussed with parents if required.

How long are the therapy sessions?

Therapy sessions typically last between 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the specific needs of the client.

What is your cancellation policy?

Appointments cancelled without 48 hours notice will be charged full fees.
